Expansion
Atlanta, Georgia  | July 2008

Youth Villages opened its first office in Georgia -- in Atlanta -- in July of 2008 bringing our nationally acclaimed Intercept in-home program to children and families in the state. Through a contract with Georgia's Department of Human Resources, Youth Villages is serving children and families in Fulton and DeKalb Counties. Our Intercept counselors will help reunify children now in expensive out-of-home placements with their families and keep children at-risk of being removed from their homes with their families.

The capital of Georgia and the 9th largest metropolitan area in the United States, Atlanta is currently the fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation. Atlanta is home to several Fortune 500 companies including Coca-Cola, Home Depot and United Parcel Services.  Known for its rapid growth and urban sprawl, Atlanta has been commended by the EPA for its eco-friendly policies.

Atlanta offers a variety of historical, cultural, and leisure activities for both young and old. Take time to enjoy the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, the Civil Rights Museum, the Carter Center and Presidential Library or Centennial Olympic Park. Residents can take advantage of shopping and entertainment at Underground Atlanta, the Atlanta Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, the Fox Theatre as well as Six Flags over Georgia.  For sports lovers Atlanta is home to four major professional teams, baseballs' Atlanta Braves, footballs' Atlanta Falcons and basketballs' Atlanta Hawks and the WNBAs' Atlanta Dream.
