Because the staff here is committed to holding high standards of service, which makes for more successful outcomes for children and families.

What positions have you held?
I love being a placement counselor and have stayed with this position since I started two years ago.

What do you love about your current job?
Helping to provide children with a home where they can feel safe and supported.

What does a typical day in your current position look like?
Processing internal and external referrals and presenting them to foster homes, monitoring children in residential and group home programs to determine their readiness for foster care, transporting children for pre-placement visits, completing weekly reports and assessments.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in your first year at Youth Villages and how did you overcome them?

Learning how to balance life and work, which is something that is a continual process. Over time, however, it has become easier to find that balance by utilizing personal outlets to relax and decompress.

What benefits or advancement opportunities have you taken advantage of?
I am currently a senior placement counselor and have enjoyed having the opportunity to attend a variety of trainings and lectures.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone who is considering working for Youth Villages?
To see obstacles as a positive challenge and to celebrate even small successes.
